Professor Massimo Rugge has been elected President of the Italian Association of Cancer Registries (AIRTum)

Professor M. Rugge, Director of the Institute of Pathological Anatomy at the University of Padua and Scientific Director of the Cancer Registry of the Veneto region, was elected President of the Italian Association of Tumor Registries (AIRTum).
The election took place in Trapani during the 23rd meeting of the Scientific Society, reference for the national network of registers that guarantee the epidemiological surveillance of oncological pathology of the national territory.
«AIRTum is an interdisciplinary scientific society of great tradition and welcomes specialists in Pathological Anatomy, Epidemiology, Oncology and Statistics. This wealth of complementary expertise allows the monitoring of cancer incidence in the country. The Italian Cancer Registry will be based on data collected by the Scientific Society. It is a task that honours me – concludes the Chairman – the Board of Directors is called to ensure AIRTum the climate of active cooperation and the results that the Company expects.»

The Board of Directors is composed of: Massimo Rugge (Veneto), Stefano Ferretti (Ferrara), Sante Minerba (Taranto), Artuto Iannelli (Salerno), Paolo Contiero (Milan), Angelo D’argenzio (Caserta), Massimo Vicentini (Reggio Emilia), Walter Mazzucco (Palermo), Alessandro Barchielli (Florence), Fernando Palma (Foggia).
